New Baby & New Crib

IT'S A GIRL!!!

I went in for my c-section early January 2.  Things didn't go quite as smoothly as they usually do, but in the end it all worked out.  My spinal block didn't block, so as they were scrubbing me preparing for surgery I realized I had an itch on my foot and was wondering about asking someone to scratch it for me when I remembered that I shouldn't be having an itch on my foot.  I tried wiggling my toes and they wiggled.  I said, "I can feel what you're doing.  And I can move my feet."  Everyone just stopped and after some testing they concluded that, yes, I could still feel and move my feet.  So, back to my room to wait another hour so they can try again.  The second time worked like a charm and a few short minutes later we got to meet our little girl.

****WARNING****  Some of the following pictures might be a little graphic of the c-section delivery.

Look at all that hair!!

8 lbs.  21 inches

Exactly a week before she was born, though, we were able to move in to our fabulous new house with the amazing help of some pretty WONDERFUL people.  The day after Christmas Tyler's entire family plus a good friend of ours and HIS brothers, dad, and father-in-law helped finish packing our house, loading everything on a truck, unloading everything off the truck and setting up furniture.  I am so blessed to be loved by so many people.

There are some "after" pictures coming, I promise.  Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us get so much done in so little time!  We are so grateful!

Ever Feel Busy?

But feel like nothing has really happened?  Yeah, that's been about the last month.  We've had plenty happen, maybe I'm just too tired by the end of the day to post pictures about it.  But, here we are again - mostly for family so they can see our family's goings-on.

First, we had a wounded goat.  We're not sure how it happened, but it did and good thing Dr. Tyler and his trusty assistant Collin were there to patch up a cut on her leg.

Then, we started school.  Eliza is getting quite efficient at coloring and will be all set for Nursery on Sunday (she's 18 months already?!).  Now, hopefully we can get her to keep it on the paper.

My dad was able to fly in for a quick weekend visit while he was on some business and the kids loved making up their own verses to silly songs.

Then the lady we were borrowing goats from wanted them back.  We've had them since May and learned a lot.  Everyone had gotten pretty attached to those gals, so we were sad to see them go.
But then, good news.  The next day the lady called us back and offered Lola to us to keep (the white one that looks like a camel without a hump).  She is our main milker (gives us up to a gallon a day), so we were quite thrilled!

Just a few weeks ago we got to play in the snow.  Yes.  The snow.  In Georgia.

In our house, actually.  For school we were learning about polar bears and I remembered that I had saved some snow from December when we had that strange stuff falling down here.  I figured that it was the perfect day to pull that out.  The kids LOVED it.  They gathered all their arctic and polar animals and played in the snow with them until it all melted.  Which actually took a lot longer than I expected.  About 3 and a half hours, actually.  Their hands were quite cold when they were done, but they were happy.  And so was I.

These next pictures are the kids with their breakfast.  I have to brag on them a little.  Every morning they come in at exactly 6:50 and catch me reading my book.  So they bring in their own, we read until about 7:30, then get up, dressed, make beds and then they make breakfast while I get my makeup and hair done.  Usually they are very nice and tidy about breakfast, but on this particular morning I don't know what happened.  I couldn't quite capture the chaos that was the table, but here they are with their bowls.

Everyone's bowls were full to the brim and there was cereal all over the table.  It was great.  I love these kids.

And, last but not least I'm sure my family would like to see my growing belly, so here it is.  This was at 23 weeks (last week).
Big as it may be, I think this is the smallest pregnancy I've had.  I started showing QUICKLY.  Like, no one was surprised when we announced I was pregnant.  No joke, most people said, "Yeah, I figured."  But then 2 weeks ago at church someone asked how far along I was and she said, "Oh!  You're so small!"  That's when I realized that I have never EVER heard those words during any of my pregnancies.  Everything is still going well and I'm feeling great.  I'm getting growing and stretching pains now that baby is growing faster and it's getting uncomfortable to bend over to get things, but otherwise I can't complain.

So, to wrap it all up, here's Eliza to say:
Well, nothing I guess.  She's too pooped.

2 Weeks To Go!

As of tomorrow, I only have 2 more weeks until I go in to have the baby!  This week was a lot of fun with 2 baby showers to go to.  Instead of having a picture of just my big belly, here's 4 of us who are all due pretty close together.  I'm sure I'm the biggest...

Me (going in March 22), Cari (due March 23), Jessica (goes in March 29?) and Kendra (due April 14... I think).

Also, on another topic - for those of you who were afraid to come over and eat with us because of our dangerous chairs, we now have a completely new and (as far as we can tell so far) safe set.  Thanks to tax "refund" money (if you can call it that), we were able to buy this lovely set.

I really love them.  I never thought I'd want green chairs, but it goes in our kitchen perfectly.  The wood on the seat is actually the same color as our table, so it's even better.  For those of you who didn't get to experience sitting in and "breaking" one of our chairs, here's what happened pretty much any time anyone would sit on them:

I do have to say, it's sad to see these go.  They've been around for as long as I can remember.  My grandma used to have them in her house and I think they're older than I am.  They've been through a lot and have fought a good fight.  But, really, how many times can you use Gorilla Glue and staples to hold them together?

28ish weeks

I'm actually 30 weeks pregnant now (only 9 more to go!!), but here is an updated picture we took sometime before... I think around 28 weeks or so.

At my last appointment we set a date for the big day.  I go in March 22!!  I've learned to really enjoy having scheduled C-sections.  I have an exact countdown (assuming all goes well up until then, of course) and my family can all plan around it.

In the meantime, we're just hanging in there.  Ali and I are having a "girls only" week since Cade was taken on a last minute trip to Utah so he could see the snow.  He'll be there for a week and I'm sure we'll have a lot to post about then!

Belly Bump

I realized I haven't posted any pictures of my growing belly yet this pregnancy.  Probably because we've been so busy we didn't even take any until a week and a half ago.  So, for my friends and family far away, here's my HUGE belly.  I am now 25 weeks.  And not having twins, thank you.

Also, my grandma came to visit after Thanksgiving and we had a lot of fun.  Thanks for coming, Mems!  After she left, we decorated the tree for Christmas.

And a sweet little holiday kiss...

Ultrasound

I went in yesterday and had an ultrasound of the baby.  I'm 19 weeks, so this is usually the one where people find out what they're having.  I was able to schedule it during Tyler's lunch so he was able to be there as well as the kids.  It was a lot of fun to see how big the baby has grown.  When I told Cade we were going to see the baby, he thought they were going to cut me open so we could check to make sure it was growing.  He was a little disappointed that he only got to see a fuzzy picture on the computer screen.

As soon as I can get our scanner to work (or when Tyler has the time, rather), I'll post the pictures.  In the meantime, we'd like to see what you all think we'll be having.  With my miscarriages before, Cade was pretty set on having a little brother, but he's since decided that little sisters are fun and would like another one.  According to the Drain-O test, it's a boy. (You mix your urine with crystal drain-o.  If the bubbles turn blue, it's a boy; gold, it's a girl.  Gross, I know, but it's been right so far.)

We didn't find out during the ultrasound because we like to be surprised and know that everyone else is as anxious for us to have the baby as we are.

Everything seemed to be ok otherwise.  We have a large baby (growing in the 8oth percentile) and  I do have an "unusually thick placenta" that they'll check again in 4 weeks.

Pictures Worth a Thousand Words

Due Date: March 29, 2010
